Midnight Checkout - A multisensory adaptation to re-engage a balance in sensory perception. Part 2 of 2

As you approach the piece, the subtle scent of Incense, ambrette firabs, tonka bean fills the air, calming your mind and preparing you for the emotional journey ahead. The artwork, with its intricate details and layered textures, tells a story of love, loss, and liberation. Each element is carefully crafted to evoke a deep emotional response, drawing the viewer into the narrative.

To conclude our exploration of counter ocularcentric design, we introduced a netting texture to the bag. This tactile element encourages the viewer to engage with the piece in a new way, challenging traditional perceptions of bag art and design. The netting adds a layer of complexity, inviting the viewer to explore the piece through touch, as well as sight.

The inspiration for this design was drawn from the vibrant and emotive comic strips of Roy Lichtenstein from the 1970s. As I examined his work, I was struck by the raw emotion and bold expressions captured in each frame. I asked myself, "How can I convey the intense emotions of a breakup in a heterosexual relationship, and the subsequent liberation from societal norms?" This question became the driving force behind the design, leading to a piece that not only tells a story but also challenges the viewer to reconsider their own perceptions of love and freedom.
